The composer and writer Daniel Speer (1636 Breslau – 1707 Göppingen) published his novel “Ungarischer oder Dacianischer Simplicissimus” in 1683. Five years later, his composition “Musikalisch-Türkischer Eulenspiegel” was published, a collection of short pieces dedicated to the various countries mentioned by Speer in his novel. Our programme includes a suite from the “Musikalisch-Türkischer Eulenspiegel”, as well as other works by Daniel Speer and by composers from his geographical region.
